Description

"[Rush] was deeply suspicious of Jackson.  He sincerely doubted that any human could actually be as nice and as intelligent as Daniel Jackson seemed, in practice, to be.  There was something wrong with the man.  Perhaps he wasn’t a human, which was, apparently, possible these days, given that this ‘stargate’ was a real, functional object and Rush wasn’t hallucinating Dr. Jackson and his interstellar gateway in some kind of psychotic episode—but Rush was fairly certain that this was not the case, primarily because he was convinced that if he’d hallucinated Dr. Jackson he would have hallucinated some personality flaws for the man, just to make the entire scenario more realistic for himself."

So upon finishing my 38-day ride through the entire Stargate Verse, I immediately got invested in cleanwhiteroom’s Mathématique, which inevitably captured my heart as well. It’s such a massive, sweeping undertaking - not only does the blending of the SG-1, SGU, and SGA casts feel seamless and organic, but the character interactions are an absolute joy.

So I felt utterly compelled to draw this gem of a scene from the very first chapter because it a) was the instant I realized this fic had grabbed my heartstrings and wouldn’t let go; b) contains the first of several wonderful exchanges between two of my favorite characters in the Stargate Verse; and c) has the most perfect gem of character insight - of course Rush would distrust Daniel on the basis that finds him too nice.

(Art isn’t my strong suit and I’m sure the off-kilter anatomy shows but wargh I wanted to doodle.)

Also on my tumblr.

Mathématique is cleanwhiteroom's domain. I just wanted to doodle them characters.
